From the abstract
Developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs) comprise a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of severe neurodevelopmental disorders, frequently caused by pathogenic variants in genes encoding neuronal ion channels or synaptic proteins. The fibroblast growth-factor 12 (FGF12) encodes a binding protein for voltage-gated sodium channels.
